Happy September!

AUTUMN IS IN THE AIR!

It’s not *here* yet, but it sure as heck feels like it’s autumn in the Midwest! So, what’s been happening since we last chatted via the Lemmon 15 in August? Oh, a few things. An eclipse arced over the States, total in some places, (89% where I live). Provided you ordered your eclipse-viewing glasses on time, you can still read this. We also watched Hurricane Irma slam (or batter or pummel, depending on which news station you watched) into the Keys and Florida. If you were in Irma’s path, you are in my prayers. It was a scary few days.

In better news, remember the Crazy Sexy You 21-day wellness program I talked about in July? I purchased the program, which started virtually for everyone on July 3 and then I said, “Nah, September is better.” Well, I started it on Monday. If you want the freak-out version, I’ll summarize here: Vegan, Gluten-free, caffeine-free, alcohol-free. Now I’ll answer your next question which I’m sure is WHAT DO YOU EAT?! The answer? Everything else! It’s a total immersion into whole foods and away from all stimulants and allergens. Those of you who know a bit of my history know that I was vegan for several years (mostly, save for cheese pizza), before leaning back into vegetarian for the last two years. The hardest part of this program has been giving up coffee! The food, which is all shopped for and cooked by me, recipes and grocery lists provided by CSY, is the fun part. You haven’t lived until you’ve had cream sauce made with cashews. Seriously. Since I could go on and on (and on) about this, I’ll shut up now and point you to the program’s homepage if you’re curious. Or if you’d like me to go on to write several pages about eating plant-based and what it’s like, just drop me a line! Maybe I’ll do a whole blathering blog about it for you other foodie geeks like me. 🤓

As of yesterday, we are BOAT OWNERS! That’s right! The hubs and I pulled the trigger on buying our friend’s boat (who also lives on the lake). Be forewarned if you follow me on Instagram, there will be pics of our boat before we have to take it out of the lake in Oct/Nov. Stay tuned.

Now, since so many of you were interested in the plight of my furniture shopping I mentioned last month, I’m here with some updates on what the furniture actually looks like in my house! Pretty good, guys. I have to tell you. I feel like a grownup with matching end tables.

I searched Amazon Prime, Pottery Barn and Crate & Barrel for curtains but couldn’t find the right panels for the right price to replace the tasseled gold and red ones that came with the house. Until I went to… brace yourselves… Walmart! Yep, those beauties in the after photo were at Walmart and were a steal at $9.82 per panel. Score! The coffee table you see pictured (bottom Left) also has one end table that comes with the set. They were a little spendy for my taste, but I am so glad I splurged! They look fab. The TV room side tables (sorry for the dark pic) were simple to assemble (or so I’m told–John did it), and are the perfect fit for that room. Incidentally that’s also where a set of “before” curtains still hangs since we need that room dark most of the time. I can’t watch scary movies with the window reflection on the screen, you know.

The pièce de résistance, however, would have to be the Crate and Barrel bar.

It’s not only space-saving and smart in its design but it fits perfectly in the small space we had between the laundry nook and the kitchen.

…and now that I’ve purchased everything for my house, I can stop, right? Wait… no. I still need to replace the dining room table. DRAT.

xoxo,
Jessica 🙂

  1. Good luck with the 21 day program! I haven’t done that one, but I did do a Whole30, so no sugar, etc. You don’t realize how much you need it until you’re on it! The living room looks awesome too-great choices :).
