What I'm Reading: A ROYAL PAIN by Megan Mulry

A Royal PainA Royal Pain by Megan Mulry

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Sophisticated, I am not.

But Megan Mulry's A Royal Pain lets me pretend I am. So, there.

Soaked in the voice of this book, I stand taller and have to stop myself from calling everyone "darling" or tacking on a needless "then" (a la Max) at the end of this sentence. Even Bronte's potty mouth and moments of snipery can't keep me from wanting to spend time with her, or watch her slow and somewhat out-of-order epiphanies evolve.

No book is perfect I suppose, but can't we allow the five-stars to mean what they really mean? That I loved it. I loved the emotional depth, the moments of confusion and frustration. And I loved Max, so adoringly dedicated to Bronte even in her moments of brash honesty, and the I-dare-you-to-hate-me chin jut she continues to give her ducal fiancee.

Lucky for us all, Max doesn't take the bait.
