The Lemmon 15: May 2018
Happy May, Fifteeners!
...and since May 15th coincides with my latest release...
Happy Release Day, Barrett & Catarina!
As I write this, I'm listening to honeybees buzz in my wall. No, I'm not kidding. We discovered recently that there is a little hole in our outside brick and it was of particular interest to bees. Well, guess what? I'm 99% certain that that "hum" of sound coming from the wall is because they've built a hive between the brick and my drywall. 😧🐝 They're docile and busy and really don't bother with us, but I also can't let them live there. We're looking into ways to humanely remove as many of them as possible and I hope we don't have to resort to killing them to remove the hives. Sigh. The downside of living in the country!
Speaking of buzz 🐝 (see what I did there?) RUMOR HAS IT released at Midnight across e platforms everywhere and I couldn't be more excited about this book! Barrett Fox is a true bad boy and Catarina is his perfect opposite. When I tell you this is an enemies to lovers book, I mean it. These two really don't like each other--or, more accurately, Catarina really doesn't like Barrett and Barrett really likes to antagonize her. 😈 As you saw from the email that brought you here, RUMOR HAS IT has received a lot of really great praise, from New York Times Bestselling authors to industry reviewers like Library Journal and Publishers Weekly. RUMOR HAS IT is also an Amazon Best Book of May, which is a huge honor. It's exciting to watch the book I loved to write receive so much love!
I'm particularly pleased whenever this book receives praise (I'm editing this to add that Harlequin Junkie just named it a TOP PICK!) and that's because alongside all this love came a rumble of uninvited criticism. There was a particularly hairy instance where an opinion was voiced, and the suggestion was made that I alter my book to make my hero more... palatable. At the time of this suggestion RUMOR HAS IT was complete, being recorded at Audible studios, and just two weeks away from being published. I was, quite frankly, appalled. I don't believe any author should change her book for one or two dissenting opinions. (I could go into how E.L. James's Christian Grey wouldn't exist if she'd caved to criticism, but I digress... 🗝 ) In tough situations I try to ask myself, "What good can come of this?" and I'm happy to report that finding the good in this particular situation wasn't hard. Don't get me wrong, my book being attacked left a sticky, icky residue, but once I emerged, I was feeling more creative, more centered, and stronger for it. One of my greatest strengths is that I tell stories in a genuine, unflinching, real way. While that sort of bravery doesn't help me parachute out of an airplane, it does make me a better writer.
Each bit of praise this book receives is a reminder that the vast majority of you LOVE Barrett. You find the book "hilarious" and "laugh out loud funny" and "amazing" and that the "chemistry is off the charts!" I can't tell you how good it feels to read positive reviews, so thank you, thank you. That much love goes a long, long way and I endeavor to return it each and every time I sit down to write. ❤️
P.S., Barrett owes me, man. I've gone to the mat in his defense enough times that he'd better buy me something nice. (Barrett, my ring finger is a 6 1/2. 💍)

I recently finished the first round of edits on America's Sweetheart, and this book was a BLAST. Both RUMOR HAS IT and AMERICA'S have celebrity themes - Barrett Fox being the Bad Boy of the NFL and Allison being a disgraced starlet accused of swiping an Oscar at a celebrity party. It's been a fun ride to write famous people, and has allowed me spread my wings. The back cover copy was recently finalized. Keep scrolling to read it...
Old flames burn bright. When a disgraced starlet returns home to lick her wounds, she discovers that her high school sweetheart is just as tempting as ever.
“No one writes big-hearted bad boys like Jessica Lemmon!”—New York Times bestselling author Lori Foster
Allison: When I left for California, I gave myself a new name and never looked back. Now my carefully crafted good-girl image is getting torn to shreds in the press thanks to my Oscar-winning A-hole of an ex-boyfriend. So I escape to the only safe haven I know and trust—my hometown—to take a breather while I plot my triumphant Hollywood comeback. However, when I arrive at my parents’ house, Jackson Burke answers the door instead. And suddenly the past comes rushing back. . . .
Jackson: First kiss. First time. First love. Yep, Allison Murphy and I shared a lot of firsts back in the day. When she left, she took half my heart with her. Now she’s back in town, and even though I swore I’d keep my distance, her parents hired me to remodel their house, and I’m going to finish the job. But one hot kiss later, suddenly the press is calling us the next big celebrity couple. Sure, I’ll play the part, for Allison’s sake—but I refuse to let her close enough to break my heart all over again. . . .
*America's Sweetheart is an e-book exclusive, so if you don't have an e-reader, you can buy it in iBooks on your iPhone or download the Kindle or Nook app on your device.
You've probably noticed on social media that I have been toting the motto "Read for fun!" everywhere I go. I also have been encouraging you to find fifteen minutes to read whenever you can. Since I had fallen WAY off the reading wagon because of [insert excuses here], I challenged MYSELF to find fifteen minutes a day to read.
And then something remarkable happened.
It became a habit again! I was carrying my Kindle around, reading before bed or with my morning coffee. I read two books last week and it was absolutely AWESOME. I built the habit.
I went from not taking the time to read to MAKING the time to read.

In case you missed it, A Snowbound Scandal's cover was revealed last month! This is book 2 in my Desire series, Dallas Billionaire's Club.

Texas billionaire Chase Ferguson has one regret: leaving Miriam Andrix to protect her from his public life. When a snowstorm strands her in his mountain mansion, their passion reignites, and it’s too hot to resist! But reality—and scandal—arrives with the thaw. Chase turned his back on happiness once. Will he fight for what he truly wants this time?
