Embody the Author You Are Becoming… Before She’s Actually Here

A writing aesthetic isn’t only about your writing space or your writing rituals. It is also about your identity.

Every time you sit down to write, you do so with a certain identity. Who you are now versus who you are becoming. That is an important distinction. If you want to be an author who writes with confidence and consistency, you have to show up that way now.

Ask yourself what that ideal writer version of you looks like. The one holding her finished book in her hands. The one who’s signing her hardcover for a raving fan. The one who stands before a crowd and reads an excerpt while they hang on her every word…

She exists. You just have to tap into her frequency.

Romanticizing your writing life means stepping into that identity now, not someday.

How to tap into your ideal writer self:

Ask yourself these questions:

  • How does she start her mornings?

  • How does she speak to herself?

  • How does she treat her creative time?

Journal your answers two ways: first, how you show up as “you” and then, how you show up as “her.”

You might notice some differences. Right now you start your mornings with a workout or by rushing out the door five minutes late. But when you imagine your writer self who has already crossed the finish line, you might see a different path.

She wakes early to sip on coffee and meditate.

She reminds herself she has enough time and energy for whatever tasks are required of her.

She tells her mother she can’t go out for dinner because that overlaps her writing time, and her writing time is sacred.

Now that you know how she’s different from you, you can begin to embody her by showing up for yourself in new and different ways:

  • Choose clothes that make you feel confident and powerful

  • Speak to yourself the way she would: with encouragement instead of criticism

  • Protect your writing time. Honor it as a sacred appointment instead of optional.

Your ideal self isn’t separate from you. She is already here, inside of you, waiting for you to align with the choices she’s gently urging you toward.

When you sit down to write as the woman you are becoming, your energy and frequency shift. You are silently telling the Universe/God that you are available for the more you’re dreaming of. In short, you stop pretending to be a success, and simply start being successful.

And that is the point when everything begins to change.
